Just when you though Australian politics couldn’t get any crazier along comes a game starring Clive Palmer.
Yep, that Clive Palmer of the United Australia Party. I will admit straight away it’s a clever piece of marketing but does it hold up as a game?
The answer is a resounding yes. As a mobile game it ticks all the right boxes.
1) It’s easy to play.
2) You can jump in at any time.
3) The content is fun and engaging.
It’s just a fun game, I know right.. who knew?
The style of game is probably best compared to a Super Mario Game as the object is to run along in a side scrolling platform environment jumping on creatures heads and collecting Tim Tams.
Clive takes the role that would be played by the loveable blue collar Italian plumber and the Tim Tams replace the coins that he would collect.
The creatures are other figures in Australian Politics including what appears to be a cockroach with a Bill Shorten head attached to it.
The levels are all based on major Australia cities as well, so in level one you are jumping and eating your way through Townsville in Queensland.
One more thing, to get the most out of the game you need to play with the sound on. The SFX are actually hilarious and the jingle playing is catchy and fun. Even if it does have political messaging all through it.
I’ve got to say, I never ever in my life thought I would be writing a review for this game. The fact that it was even conceived is just mind blowing. But at the end of the day, when you take out who the people are, and the messages that are driven through to the player its a pretty good indy game that will no doubt serve it’s purpose.
If you wanted to check it out I’d suggest downloading from your app store quickly as I can’t see it being around for very long.
