Nintendo E3: A Breakdown of the Showcase that Wins E3

Nintendo has had a very good E3 with it’s special presentation “Nintendo Direct”.

The showcase starts with a look at Dragon Quest as well as the characters being added to the Super Smash Bros roster.

Next a better look at the upcoming “Luigi’s Mansion 3 – Luigi’s Nightmare”. The various modes make this a sort after multiplayer title for the Nintendo Switch. Still no concrete release date though, just an “available in 2019” so expect it just before Christmas.

The next showing was for “The Dark Crystal” which has my vote for “Best Game I didn’t Know about before E3” which is a title I just made up but it’s looks amazing.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening has come a long way since it’s Gameboy origins and has a release date of September 20 2019, so look forward to that in the coming months.

Square Enix showed off “Trials of Man” dues for release in early 2020 with the classic games going under the banner “Collection of Mana” and getting an immediate release.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Switch port is coming out before the end of the year and looks to be good version of the game that will reportedly run in 540p on the handheld device and 720p when on the TV.

Wow, only at the halfway mark of the showcase and already so many good titles.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses looks like a great Manga cartoon with some game play in there somewhere, its out in July.

The Switch version of Resident Evil had a live action trailer, playing the game in a scary location. Cool idea, but the game looks old now. Good thing it was actually to promote that 5 & 6 are both coming to the console and they are much more modern.

The trailer for No More Heroes 3 has some cool animation and is worth a look if you are a fan of the series.

But then, things just get weird, the most random game of E3 has to be “Contra: Rogue Corps”. It could be brilliant.

Next is the best look at Daemon Machina that we’ve seen yet, showing off it’s beautiful animation style that blends the cinematic with in game graphics.

Is this flying bug game the new “joust”? nope it’s “Panzer Dragon” coming in the American winter. Great to see that they’ve got a new version of the franchise.

Pokemon news is next, not too much new here. Fans get to play Sword and Sheild at E3 so it will be interesting to see what people thought of it. Nintendo Treehouse has some live footage here:

Astral Chain, is another Japanese animation style action adventure game that is as strange as it is impressive. Worth looking at the trailer and listening to them say Chimera about a hundred times. It’s coming out on August 30, 2019.

Those three words at the bottom of a screen that read “Not actual gameplay” really annoy me. Lucky the trailer for “Empire of Sin” Changes to “Game play footage not final” quickly and actually looks like something different for the Nintendo Switch. A fun Gangster game.

Marvel steps it up with a trailer that looks brilliant. Multiple heroes, fun voice acting and some great chaotic gameplay. The next version of Ultimate Alliance looks great.

Cadence of Hyrule is out now, a nice addition to the Legend of Zelda universe that could be a bit of fun for quick play.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, is what the Olympics should be. Can we just get all the athletes playing this game? How much fun does it look?

The cutest survival game ever is next, how many hours do you think we can put into Animal Crossing: New Horizons when it’s released on March 20, 2020. Someone needs to do a mod with Zombies.

A highlight package shows us, Spyro the Dragon, Hollow Knight, Ni No Kuni, Minecraft: Dungeons, Elder Scrolls: Blades, Doom: Eternal, My Friend Pedro, The Sinking City, Wolfenstien: Youngblood, Alien: Isolation, FF Tactics, Dragon Quest and more

Nintendo certainly know how to do a great package and they follow it up with a reveal for a new Super Smash Bros character that actually gets you excited.

Wait.. there’s one more thing..

OMG

It’s a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

All they need to show is “Currently in Development” and just like that they WIN E3.

Well played Nintendo while everyone is doing showy live presentations about not much at all, you come in with a “hold my beer” attitude and get us excited about the games.
