If you have been looking for an excuse to sink your teeth back into Vampires: Bloodlord Rising, the developers just handed you the perfect one. Right on time for the spooky season, the open-world action-adventure game has dropped a hefty Halloween update, and it brings some serious changes to how you fight in the gloomy lands of Sangavia.
A Total Combat Overhaul
Developer Mehuman Games and publisher Toplitz Productions have clearly been listening to player feedback during Early Access. The biggest changes in this patch focus entirely on the combat system. Expect faster, more responsive melee fights with fresh combos, new charge attacks, and an updated counterattack system that builds a new ‘rage’ meter when you land successful hits.
They have also completely tweaked how you feed. The new dash-to-target blood-draining mechanic means you can now launch yourself at enemies, and even attack or throw them while draining their health. To test out these brutal new moves, you will be facing off against a brand-new enemy type: the Evil Spirit.
More Customisation and Base Building
It is not just about the fighting. The update brings general performance optimisations, a new hotbar for your skills and consumables, and an extra face preset for the character creator. If you love decorating your dark castle, you can now craft and display trophies from the resources you gather, alongside a mysterious new item called the Vial of Existence.
With the full 1.0 release slated for 2027, the game is shaping up nicely. You can check out the Halloween update right now on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
