The Witcher 4 is currently in development at CD Projekt Red and if you were looking forward to jumping back into Geralt of Rivas boots you might be disappointed.
Doug Cockle, the voice actor for Geralt, has confirmed that while Geralt will be a character in the game you interact with he won’t be the focus of the title. This has led to speculation as to if the game will focus on Ciri of Cintra or be completely stand alone from the stories in the books and instead allow you to create your own character, be it another witcher or Wizard, Sorceress or Bard and play out the story with your own character.
My two cents, I really hope it’s a customisable character in an open Witcher world.
The company currently has over 400 developers working on the title as well as another group working on rebuilding the original “The Witcher” game from 2007 from the ground up using the Unreal Engine 5.
In other “Witcher”news the Henry Cavill-less Season 4 of the Netflix show is due to launch at some point with the team filming seasons 4 and 5 back to back and said to be based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s three remaining books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. Liam Hemsworth take over as Geralt and I’ll leave judgement for that til after we see more than this teaser.
