Alone in the Dark really defined the whole survival-horror genre back in 1992. The game was inspiration for the Resident Evil series which we’ve seen be remade for modern audiences recently and now that special treatment is happening to Alone in the Dark as well.
The developer “Pieces Interactive” is returning to create a reimagining of the game which you can see in this official launch trailer.
Alone in the Dark - Announcement Trailer
Alone in the Dark will feature a completely original story, however, it does incorporate characters, places, and themes from the original ’90s trilogy.
It’s OK you don’t need to have played the original games but there will be plenty of fan service for those who have.
This reimagining of the Alone in the Dark tale will have a Lovecraftian horror theme set in the gothic American south during the 1920s.
You’ll revisit an expanded and somewhat transformed Derceto Mansion which was the location that featured in the 1992 game. Plus there’ll be a variety of other sites connected to Derceto to explore.
The team were excited to reveal that Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby, two of the original game’s protagonists, are once again playable, but also were quick to point out that all enemies are new, original creations with some nods to the past.
Alone in the Dark will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
