Nintendo’s global sales of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet for Nintendo Switch have surpassed a major milestone in the franchise’s history by hitting 10 million combined units sales in the first three days since the worldwide launch on 18th November 2022. So there is no doubt they have another hit on their hands.
This is the highest global sales level for any software on any Nintendo platform within the first three days.
The pair of Nintendo Switch games are the latest mainline games in the Pokémon series, coming three years after Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
In Scarlet and Violet players can experience a new and unique open-world Pokémon adventure for the first time in the franchise and while reviews have been mixed, it’s hard to go past a formula that works quite as well at demanding your game play attention as this.

The real difference is on your Pokémon journey you are freely exploring at your own pace and tackling multiple main story arcs in any order.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet also offer expanded multiplayer modes, allowing up to four players to travel across the land together.
There are a lot of familiar tropes that make the game instantly recognisable to veteran players while new players will find it new and refreshing as it teaches you the ropes.
Multiplayer has always been a part of these titles and some of my favourite memories are of playing Pokemon Red and Blue back in the day on the Gameboy, trading with friends and battling our Pokémon
But now players can also explore the various locations of the region together with other players. So you can trade, battle, join Tera Raid Battles or just have a relaxing picnic. The options are as varied as the people that play the game.
Some of the negative feedback in reviews is based around the technical issues in the game that seem to be weeding out through a few minor updates. One issue I found was that the right control stick would just stop working while in the game. I would switch out to the home screen of the Switch and it would be fine, but while in the game it was inactive until I rebooted the game. This seems to have worked itself out now though. (touch wood).
I’m currently playing the Violet version of the game and I’m pretty happy with it so far even if its not really blowing my mind graphically, the gameplay is just so addictive, as they say “Gotta catch ’em all”.
Meeting the new Pokemon characters to choose at the beginning of your game is always an enjoyable and important step towards your ultimate goal.
This time we have 3 Pokemon who are difficult to choose between and I ended up just picking randomly.

Sprigatito is a wonderful Green Cat Pokemon and is the one I ended up going with. It’s a grass type and actually a really cool choice as normally I opt for water or fire types.

Fuecoco is a super cute Fire Croc Pokemon who is good to go with if you want a good giggle at its animations.

Quaxly should have its own Netflix animated series, it just has that look. But it’s a strong Water Type Duckling Pokemon.
Special mention should go to LeChonk and Pawmi who were early additions to my team that I can’t wait to see evolve.
It’s no wonder the game is selling in such large numbers as fans often buy both versions of the game and it’s one of those titles that you just know what you are going to get and it’s going to be great.
