It’s one of the biggest multiplayer titles of the last few years and it’s about to get a massive update so big they had to make it a sequel. Overwatch 2 is launching on October 4 and will be free-to-play on Windows® PC and Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Nintendo Switch™ consoles.
That kind of accessibility is what makes the Blizzard shooter a game that anyone can join, and anyone can play in what the team describes as an “always-on, always-evolving live service”.
But what makes this the most significant release for Overwatch since its debut?
The shift to free-to-play will really open up the fan base and make the world of Overwatch available to more people than ever before, removing the barrier of entry and making it easier than ever to quickly jump into a match with friends. It’s a format that is familiar to Fortnite players and opens Overwatch up from its already huge player base to bring in those casual gamers who will easily become hooked on the brilliant character designs, glorious maps and high-energy gameplay.
Blizzard is going to great lengths to reward the players that have been there from the beginning with an Overwatch 2 Founder’s Pack that will be free in-game to all existing players who own Overwatch. The Founder’s Pack will include two epic skins and an exclusive founder’s icon, along with a surprise gift that will be announced before the game’s October 4 release.
To be eligible for the Founder’s Pack, players need to own Overwatch prior to June 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. PDT.
To redeem the Founder’s Pack, players need to log into the live game by 12/05/2022 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. This includes logging into Overwatch prior to October 4, or logging into Overwatch 2 after launch!
Get ready to jump into the free-to-play Overwatch 2 early access from October 4.
