Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) Patch 7.56 has finally dropped, bringing the highly anticipated Beastmaster limited job to the realm of Eorzea. If you have ever looked at the local wildlife and thought, “We should team up,” your time has come.
Sharing gear with the Monk and Samurai, the Beastmaster is a melee-focused DPS that trades traditional rotations for a roster of tamed creatures. Unlocking the job requires a level 50 Disciple of War or Magic and completion of the “The Ultimate Weapon” main scenario quest. From there, you speak to the Excited Adventurer in New Gridania to start filling out your Master’s Bestiary. Capturing beasts involves assessing their taming difficulty with the Gauge action, applying a status effect with Capture, and defeating them while the effect holds.
Once you hit level 30, the real challenge begins: the Crucible of the Unbroken. This solo, roguelite-style mode plays out on a special board where you draft a team of familiars to survive a gauntlet of enemies. Health does not naturally regenerate for you or your beasts, making every move and tactical switch critical.
Success in the Crucible rewards you with remnants of resilience based on your final score. Trade these with the Kornago merchant in the Central Shroud for gear upgrades or Kornago gourds, which allow you to form a pact with a beast without direct combat.
For the truly competitive, Season One of the Crucible Rankings kicks off on Thursday, 24 September 2026. The top 300 players on each physical data centre (including the local Materia centre for Australia and New Zealand) will score exclusive rewards.
