Quakecon brought with it a fair bit of information on upcoming games including a look at the gameplay in Doom Eternal and more about the online action RPG incarnation of the Fallout series titled “Fallout 76”.
It seems that with the release of this video Bethesda is encouraging players to work together to build a better future in the game. It shows that there is the possibility of war against other player factions but the ultimate benefit is making friends and building together.
Part of the speculation on the game is that players can sometimes be jerks and in these types of multiplayer games that can ruin the experience for people who just want to play the game with friends or even just stroll through the wasteland solo enjoying the story. This is a concern I’ve had since the initial video showed that players could get control of nuke bases and select targets. I guess the bigger the group the better off you will be though.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L also returns as part of the perks system. You can create the perfect character to fit into a team where each person chooses different skill sets or go for more of an all rounder to take it on solo. It seems there could also be an introduction of mutation. If it goes as far as the video we could be seeing players with tails. We won’t know how likely that is until the game is released, but it could just be an exaggerated look at being faster or jumping higher.
Fallout 76 is set to launch on November 14 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Beta testing is in October.
