The much anticipated Xbox Games Showcase happened and while we didn’t see a release date or pricing on the new console we were treated to multiple new trailers and actual gameplay footage of some upcoming titles.
There’s good news as well for people who are not likely to be early adopters of the new console systems, Xbox plans to make the games on Xbox Series X available on the Xbox One X for the next 2 years, plus the titles are also coming to PC and will all be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Halo Infinite: The gameplay footage was what we would expect from a Halo game, graphically decent with an animated feel to it. The game will be much larger than previous titles and will run at 60ffs.
State of Decay 3: The world premiere of the next in this zombie apocalypse franchise. The trailer showed off a massive leap forward in cinematics for the series.
Forza Motorsport: Looks to be really taking advantage of the new hardware with a trailer that looks as real as you can get.
Rare showed off a uniquely animated new title called Everwild. It will be interesting to see what this game will be like
There’s plenty of drama and mystery in “Tell Me Why” that looks to be released over chapters.
Moose Studio announced that Ori will be remastered for the system giving life to their original vision for the game and reaching 120 ffs.
Peril on Gorgon is the first of two planned expansions for The Outer Worlds that captures that same retro space feel with plenty of laughs that we saw in the original title and will be available from September 9
We saw more of a new survival game that has that unique Obsidian Entertainment humour called Grounded. Some genuinely funny moments in the trailer and a brilliant shot at the very end that has the characters on a giant Battle Toad which brought back memories. This game is coming out on July 28.
The next big Obsidian RPG though is looking more along the lines of The Elder Scrolls series and is called Avowed. The first look trailer showed just a glimpse of the title but the explanation told us that it is using the full capabilities of the new console.
The indi title “As Dusk Falls” is a really uniquely presented story driven game.
Hellblade 2 Sensua’s Saga which we saw at the game awards is apparently being developed on the Unreal Engine 5. So this could be a lot further down the road for release.
Jack Black was the highlight as he sings the title song for the brain bending platform game Psychonauts 2.
Destiny 2 is getting revamped for Xbox Series X, but its also coming to Game Pass with all the current expansions.
There were also world premiers for console launch exclusives, STALKER 2, Warhammer 40,000 Darktide, Tetris Effect Connected, The Gunk, The Medium and New Genesis: Phantasy Star Online 2, Crossfire.
The Fable world premiere was an official announcement that we’ve been looking forward to. It’s been teased for a long time and even though we didn’t see much of the game the trailer captured what people love about the previous versions of the game.
