Congratulations to PlayStation Australia who are today celebrating the fifth anniversary of the launch of PlayStation VR.
Over the last five years, virtual reality has established itself as a major source for gaming with systems like this and the Oculus Quest 2. PlayStation VR really paved the way for VR being a product for the average consumer and therefore had a massive impact on the growth of the medium.
I remember when I was first introduced to PlayStation VR, I went in very hesitant as my previous experiences were only with terrible mobile phone adapters that said “VR” but were just horrible. The first game I played on the system was Farpoint with the Aim Controller and my mind was blown. The graphics were no longer blocky or wireframe and the environment felt rich and alive. Fast forward to now with games like HalfLife – Alyx on Steam for other systems and the promise of VR is really starting to be realized. I expect that Virtual Reality in the next 5 years will become even more mainstream and it’s all thanks to PSVR and Facebooks Oculus.
To celebrate this milestone PlayStation Plus members will get three PS VR bonus games for no extra charge starting in November.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
This Resident Evil game takes Ethan Winters to a run-down plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, in search of his missing wife, Mia. Not all is well at the old Baker house, however; the entire mansion seems to be falling apart, nobody’s heard from the residents in years, and there have been several reports of people going missing from the surrounding area, never to be heard from again.
